ALLAH IS WITH THE BROKEN-HEARTED

"Verily, with hardship comes ease." (Qur'an, Ash-Sharh: 5)

DELIVERED BY SHAYKH JAMAL ABDINASIR

SUNDAY 26TH JANUARY 2025 | 11.00 AM - 3.00 PM

LONDON MUSLIM CENTRE (ELM), MAIN HALL, GROUND FLOOR

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The world is a prison for the believer and a paradise for the unbeliever.” (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim)

A believer may be constantly tested, and our hearts may break, but these tests all have a purpose. Tests can take the form of things that may harm someone, such as fear, hunger, loss of wealth, or loss of life.

How we respond to tests can also tell us about our relationship with Allah. Being tested by Allah can bring us many benefits therefore, we should honour our emotions that accompany grief and hardship and remind ourselves that tests are to purify us and make us stronger.

“Amazing is the affair of the believer, verily all of his affair is good and this is not for no one except the believer. If something of good/happiness befalls him he is grateful and that is good for him. If something of harm befalls him he is patient and that is good for him.” (Sahih Muslim)

Seminar Objectives:

  • Why are we tested?

  • Thinking well of Allah ﷻ especially when we are faced with a calamity/test.

"Allah the Exalted says: 'I am as my slave expects me to be, and I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me inwardly, I will remember him inwardly, and if he remembers Me in an assembly, I will remember him in a better assembly (i.e., in the assembly of angels)." ( Riyad as-Saliheen)

  • Allah ﷻ is with you. He Sees you and Hears you.

“Whenever My servants ask about Me, indeed, I am near. I respond to the call of the supplicant whenever he calls upon Me.” (2:186)

  • Know that victory comes with patience, that relief comes with a crisis, and that hardship comes with ease.

"Verily, with hardship comes ease." (Qur'an, Ash-Sharh:5)

  • Allah is Al-Jabbar: Mending a broken heart.

  • Remember Allah ﷻ often: Acts of worship that bring closeness to Allah and relief to the heart.

“No doubt, in the remembrance of Allah hearts find comfort.” (13:28)

  • Sadaqah: A shield against calamity

  • Know that whatever has missed you was never meant to afflict you, and whatever afflicts you could never have missed you!

  • Allah ﷻ is with the patient and has guaranteed Jannah for his righteous believers.

“Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home.” (13:24)

  • The Power of Du'a

“وَإِن تَعُدُّواْ نِعۡمَةَ ٱللَّهِ لَا تُحۡصُوهَآ‌ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَغَفُورٌ۬ رَّحِيمٌ۬”
“And if you would count the favours of Allâh, never could you be able to count them. Truly

Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Qur'an, an-Nahl: 18)
