Water Crisis in Africa - Al Ansari Foundation

It is a well-known fact that millions of people lack access to clean water in Africa. People travel many hours a day in search of water on Zanzibar Island. But those who have no water on the smaller islands must travel across the sea daily to collect water from government taps on larger islands.

Quite often these taps are switched off for several weeks or even months at a time. This leaves people stranded without fresh drinking water. We have been drilling for water for to help support the poor for years now. There are scores of our water wells across Zanzibar’s remote villages and its neighbouring islands.

What is so different about our water wells?

Our water wells are no longer hand dug, we dig with hydraulic machines some 60m to 120m deep so the water supply is clean and free of pollutants. They are built to last.

We install an electric pump to siphon water from deep below the surface to a 5,000 litre tank. We tap this off for accessibility. We provide a lifeline to the Zanzibar people.

As well as building wells we will also be purchasing a Drilling Rig.
